Home, Jail, Law-Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra conducted a surprise inspection of the Bhopal Central Jail and the arrangements made for the prisoners. He also inspected the prison’s kitchen and the highly sensitive “Anda Cell”. Minister Dr. Mishra said that in view of Corona infection period, decision has been taken to extend the parole period by 60 days. For this, the department will send a proposal to the “High Power Committee”. As soon as the recommendation of the committee is received, orders related to extension of parole period will be issued. The parole period of the detainees released on parole will end on July 31.

Inmates will be able to talk to family members through video conferencing

Minister Dr. Mishra informed that during this Corona crisis, prisoners confined in jails will be provided video conferencing facility to talk to their families. This will enable the prisoners and their families to see and communicate with each other. He said that inmates in prisons are being provided with the facility to talk to their families telephonically even now.

Food including salad being provided to strengthen immune system

Minister Dr. Mishra also inspected the kitchen of the Central Jail. He also tasted the food being made for the prisoners. Dr. Mishra expressed satisfaction over the quality of food and also decided that salad along with food should be made compulsory to strengthen the immunity system of prisoners in the current Corona transition period.He directed the Director General of Jail Sanjay Choudhary to ensure that inmates are provided salad along with food in all the jails of the state.

Corona wards will be built in jails

After the jail inspection, Minister Dr. Mishra said that in view of the Corona transition period, Corona wards will be made in the central jails of Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur and Sagar. He said that arrangement of the requirement doctors will also be ensured for the treatment of prisoners.

Inspection of jail’s highly sensitive cell “Anda Cell”

Minister Dr. Mishra also inspected the highly sensitive Anda cell of the Central Jail. He expressed satisfaction over the existing arrangements and also said that necessary deliberations will be made to further improve them. Minister Dr. Mishra said that all necessary arrangements will also be made to provide better environment to the jail inmates.

Arrangement of bangles and bindis will be made for female prisoners

Minister Dr. Mishra said that bangles and bindis will be arranged for female prisoners in jails. Director General of Jail Sanjay Choudhary and Central Jail Superintendent Dinesh Nargave were also present during the inspection.
