Chhattri of Maharani Lakshmibai of Jhansi – This monument marks the site of the cremation of the illustrious and heroic Maharani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, who fell in the battle in the first #freedom struggle of 1857-58. Born at Benares on Nov. 19, 1835 died at #Gwalior on June 18, 1858. The monument site is constructed by the Gwalior Archaeological Department in 1920 during the reign of Maharaja Madhavrao Scindia Alijah Bahadur of Gwalior.

The shaheed jyoti at the samadhi was inaugurated by CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Madandas, Narendra Singh Tomar and Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar on 10 May 2008, 7:57 pm.

Iss samadhi mein chhipi hui hai, ek raakh ki dheri,
Jal kar jisne swatantrata ki, divya aarti feri,
yah samadhi yah laghu samadhi hai, jhansi ki rani ki,
antim leelasthali yehi hai, Lakshami mardani ki
