Gwalior Light Railway (Narrow guage) to closed down soon as new Gwalior-Sheopur broad gauge rail project in under pipeline, the acquisition of land to the railway should be completed by December 2020 announces Chambal Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Mishra. 184.962 hectaures in Morena and 116.406 hectares in Sheopur district land aquisition has been completed.

The work of land acquisition in Gwalior Sheopur Rail Project to convert Gwalior to Sheopur Narrow Guage (short line) into broad gauge (big line) is going on extensively. Under this project a broad gauge line has to be laid of 187.53 km long from Gwalior to Morena via Sheopur. So far 184.962 in Morena district and 116.406 hectare land in 38 villages of Sheopur district has been acquired under the Broad gauge rail project. In this, the government land of Morena is 56.171 hectares, 105.880 hectares of private land and 12.904 hectares of forest department land. 116.406 hectares of land has been acquired in Sheopur district. For Gwalior-Sheopur Broad gauge rail project, all the land acquisition and the entire process of giving possession of land to the railway will be completed by 31 December 2020. The entire process of land acquisition will be done in 38 villages of Sheopur district, and along with 44 villages with remaining 6 villages in Sheopur district will be completed after taking action under Section 19 and Section 21.

Additional Commissioner Ashok Kumar Chauhan, Joint Commissioner Development Rajendra Singh, Deputy Chief Engineer of Central Railway, S.N. Yadav, Senior Section Engineer SK Shakya, R.S. Lodhi, G. Chaturvedi, Sheopur Additional Collector S.R. Nair, Morena Land records and Joint Collector LK Pandey and other senior officials were present.
