An comparative study related to epidemiology of major institutions of the country in relation to Covid-19 was presented before the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Mantralaya. The study mainly revealed that Corona infection in Madhya Pradesh will continue to decline.

A comparative study of John Hopkins University, University of Michigan, Delhi School of Economics, Institute for Health Matrix and Evaluation, Center for Mathematical Modeling for Infectious Diseases, IIT Kanpur, IIT Hyderabad and Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru, lays special emphasis that wearing mask, maintaining social distance and vaccination will be necessary to prevent infection in the coming time. Health Minister Shri Prabhuram Chaudhary, Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Mohammad Suleman, Health Commissioner Shri Akash Tripathi etc. were present in the meeting.

1500 cases daily till June 15

A study by IIT Kanpur and IIT Hyderabad stated that 1500 cases of Corona will be reported daily till June 15 in Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, the Center for Mathematical Modeling for Infectious Diseases said that in the coming days, the number of new cases will be between 500 and 1400. A study by the Institute for Health Matrix and Evaluation stated that if 100 percent of the people wear masks, then by September 1, the average number of cases will be 2400 per day.

People in the age group of 18 to 44 most affected

In Madhya Pradesh, there has been a decrease in Corona cases in people above 60 years of age, on the contrary, maximum number of cases are in the age group of 18 to 44 years. Compared to the month of January, the cases of those above 60 years of age have fallen from 20 percent to 13 percent. Cases in the 45 to 60 age group have fallen from 25 percent to 22 percent and cases among people in the 18 to 45 age group have increased from 49 percent to 58 percent. Cases of those under 18 have increased from 5.8 percent to 6.6 percent.

More vigilance is required in less affected areas

The study revealed that areas with less impact of infection, need to be more vigilant. These areas should be intensively surveyed. There is possibility of more infection in future in areas where infection is less. There is a need to be more vigilant in the rural areas of Madhya Pradesh in the coming times.

Tracing, Quarantine and Testing must

Studies have suggested that intensive tracing, quarantine, and testing will be required to prevent infection in the future.

Need for Covid friendly behavior, vaccination and finding new variants

In order to prevent the third wave of Corona, it will be necessary to adopt Covid friendly behaviour, vaccination and finding new variants of Corona.

As many as 31 thousand 156 beds in hospitals

It was informed in the meeting that the number of beds in the government hospitals of the districts will be increased from 11 thousand 997 to one 31 thousand 156 as a preparation of the third wave in Madhya Pradesh. The number of beds for children in district hospitals will be increased to 1659. Similarly, beds in government medical colleges will be increased to 13 thousand 335.
