BJP Rajya Sabha member Jyotiraditya Scindia’s proposed visit to the state capital has sparked speculations over the ruling party’s exercise to pacify a few of his loyalists, who are awaiting responsibilities.
Scindia is likely to arrive in Bhopal on Wednesday (June 9) and also hold meetings in Gwalior for the next two days. “I have spoken to Scindia ji recently. He is likely to arrive in the state capital on June 9. We have organisational matters to discuss and there is no other agenda as propagated in the social media,” BJP state president V D Sharma told TOI.
A flurry of one-to-one closed-door meetings between top BJP leaders during the last one week have sparked speculations over a possible change in the state organisation.
BJP leaders though rubbished speculation of any changes in the top leadership and clarified that the organisational set-up is being reviewed .
Sources in BJP disclosed that Scindia, who was on a foreign trip last month, is likely to take up long-pending issues related to the appointments in boards and corporations apart from the state organisation, where names of spokespersons and panelists are to be finalised.
Scindia’s trusted lieutenants such as Imarti Devi and Giriraj Dandotia, who lost the assembly bypolls last year are awaiting new assignments. Sources in BJP disclosed that he is also keen to adjust a few loyalists in the state organisation.
During his short visit, Scindia is also likely to review Covid relief works being undertaken in the Gwalior-Chambal region during the last three months.
On Sunday, Scindia released a video message appealing to the public to be extra-cautious during the unlock process which began in the state from June 1.
“We have to fight a long battle against corona, so keep yourself and your family members safe by maintaining discipline and getting the vaccine. MP has been unlocked and in such a situation, our responsibility has increased. I request you follow all Covid protocols,” read Scindia’s message.
